Sunday Not-So-Fun Day

Yesterday I woke up feeling MISERABLE. My throat was sore, my stomach was queasy, my head was busting. It was not good. Aaron left before 7 for work, I tried to sleep a little more before getting ready for church. I woke up at 8 and wasn't feeling any better so I messaged my mother to tell her that we wouldn't be at church. She offered to come take Lynny to church with her so that I could get some more rest. Hallelujah!
I went back to sleep and woke up about 11:30 to my parents bringing Lynny back and bringing us some lunch. And a coffee!

They are life savers.
Just watching Snow White while eating lunch on the couch...

Lynny said that she didn't fee good, so she lounged on the couch with me for a few before I put her down for her nap. She looked pretty pitiful.

She napped for about 2 hours, so did I! Then it was up to get a snack. Cheetos... her favorite!

I had some of my favorite snack!

Running didn't happen yesterday. It was a scheduled rest day, so being sick didn't mess up my plans any. I have three short runs ( two 4 milers and a 3 miler) scheduled for this week. I was going to knock one out today, however, I think I'll make it another rest day to let my body recover from yesterday.
Rest days are EXTREMELY important, even unscheduled ones! I read a passage from Hal Higdon's book Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide that has really stuck with me this training cycle. He states that "Rest is best. I figure that if you need to ask whether to take a day off, you probably already know the answer and are only witing for me to confirm your choice: 'Yes, rest is best.'" He goes on to say that active rest sometimes isn't enough rest for your body. Sometimes you simply have to do NOTHING.
I am taking this advice today, hopefully meaning I'll feel better for a run tomorrow!
What are your favorite snacks?
What do you do on rest days?
