Wednesday Would You Rather- Running Edition

Happy Wednesday!
I made a mistake, but not one that affected anyone other than myself, yesterday morning. I had in my mind that I had a track workout scheduled with a client when, in fact, I did not. It is scheduled for today. I had it written correctly in my planner, just not in my brain. Oh well. I just started my own workout earlier than I had anticipated, which worked out because it was SO HOT and HUMID towards the end when I would have been just starting had I had the workout with the client!
I had originally planned to do 12x400s at a 1:55 pace with 1:55 recoveries. That seemed FAST to me, but I decided to give it a go. I surprised myself, the first lap was a 1:37.36! It was really hard, and I decided I'd stick with my planned goal. After the fifth or sixth lap, I could feel my back twinge a little. It wasn't a terrible pain, but it was there. I decided to cut the workout to 8x400s just to be safe. I knew that I had a mile trial run with a client yesterday afternoon plus a long run today, so I didn't want to hurt myself. Plus I'm so close to my next half that it would be devastating if I injured myself and couldn't run it.

My lap times looked like this:
Lap 1: 1:37.36
Recovery
Lap 2: 1:37.85
Recovery
Lap 3: 1:40.21
Recovery
Lap 4: 1:40.67
Recovery
Lap 5: 1:41.93
Recovery
Lap 6: 1:42.51
Recovery
Lap 7: 1:44.39
Recovery
Lap 8: 1:37.81
I pushed it that last lap because I knew I was almost finished. I probably could have finished the workout. I'm guessing the last few would have been closer to the 1:55 pace, as I was obviously adding a little bit of time with each lap. I'm very proud of those times, regardless!
I did discover that it is extremely difficult to time yourself on workouts. I realized I could have used my Garmin for this about Lap 7 when it was too late. Oh well. Live and learn ;)
HOT.

After my track workout I headed to my favorite coffee joint. If you've read more than 2 or 3 blog posts, you know where that is! Ha!

Then I came home and worked on the blog and Red's Running some more. Lynny wanted to go to her sitter's today to play. Apparently I'm boring and she needed some friend time, so I took her... I suppose I'm not the cool mom.
I also ordered a new book, Running Anatomy, so that I can better understand HOW someone needs to run. Hopefully this will help tremendously with future clients! I'll let you know how it is!
I headed to get Lynny and my dad tagged along! We went to a store party that my aunt's work was having. Lynny had a BLAST.

Two of her favorite cousins were there. They played badminton and bubbles and all kinds of stuff. She loved every second.

She also got a sweet tat ;)

She wanted to go to a playground, but it was getting ready to storm... so we went to our only option... McDonald's. I bought a coke and water to "pay" for use of their facilities.

There were LOTS of kids there, so Lynny had plenty of new friends to play with. She was excited. I was hoping they'd wear her out ;)
We came home and fixed dinner. She is continuing to be a really great helper ;)

Spaghetti for Aaron and Lynny and mock spaghetti for me, made with veggies instead of noodles.

I really like this meal and I don't miss the noodles very much. Although, looking back, I could have eaten the noodles to fuel my long run today... hind sight is 20/20, my friends.
We went outside to play with the pups. We took them on a walk, brushed them, and got in some good cuddles ;)

He's trying to blend with the asphalt. Ha!

We went to my parents' house for a few minutes. My mom had me some watermelon! Expect that amazingness to be on the blog post tomorrow!! YUM.
Today I wanted to post some fun Would You Rather questions, all running related!
1. Would you rather run on an empty stomach or with a full bladder?
2. Would you rather eat a 1/4lb of bacon or drink a milkshake mid-long run for fuel?
3. Would you rather travel a long distance to somewhere you've never been to race or race locally?
4. Would you rather only be allowed to run inside on a treadmill for 3 months or only be allowed to run outside on the roads for 3 months?
5. Would you rather run a 5K without shoes or without a bra?
6. Would you rather run a 10K with a side cramp or with a blister on your foot?
7. Would you rather run a half marathon without music or without a GPS watch?
8. Would you rather run in extreme cold or extreme heat?
9. Would you rather run a 10K in shoes that are too big or shoes that are too little?
10. Would you rather run in your favorite outfit every day but only be allowed to wash it once a week or run in clean clothes that you hate every day?
Some of those are tough! The only one I don't have to think about is number 1. I'd MUCH rather run on an empty stomach than a full bladder. There isn't much worse, in my opinion, than running and needing to pee. Especially when you're in a place with no bathrooms. I am no stranger to peeing in the woods, and I am not ashamed!
I'll have a post on my Facebook page about today's blog post. Go share a couple of your would you rather answers on there!
Do you ever mix up days to meet people and feel ridiculous? (LIKE ME TODAY!!)
How did your run go today?
How is the weather in your neck of the woods?
