Happy Friday!!!!

Yesterday started out pretty late... Lynny didn't wake up until 9:30. To some that sounds like a dream, and the extra sleep sure is nice, but all you Mommas out there know that it's not worth it. Sleeping in that late = no nap later in the day. No nap later in the day = one cranky kid. I knew it would be a rough day, so I prepared myself for it ;)

I woke up and worked on some things, and once Sleeping Beauty decided to make an appearance, we got started on breakfast. Egg wrap for me and chocolate donuts for her. Her hair is on point when she wakes up...

After breakfast it was time for some Play-Doh fun. She decided that her hair needed a bow... that'll tame that mane ;)

After Play-Doh time, we played outside until Daddy got home for lunch. Peanut butter sandwiches, pretzels, bananas, and ice cream for the win!

Someone refused to take a nap. I knew that would happen. We decided to go for a walk on our local trail. It was my rest day and I was itching to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING. Lynny fell a couple of times, but that's nothing new. Her knees look awful... but she's a tough one!

She was "racing like Mommy"!

She wanted to look at the train. She LOVES trains.

We saw a groundhog...

We made it back to the car just in time! It started raining as soon as we pulled out!

We had dinner with my parents. Cracker Barrel is one of her favorites. She loves to play checkers while we wait ;)

After dinner we went to the town square where they have bands play every Thursday night. Aaron had to work the event, so we got to see him, too.

Then we came home, very angry, I might add (#nonaplynny), and jumped in the bath and settled in for the night. We made it awake until Daddy got home, but we didn't last much longer than that ;)

Today I wanted to talk about what kind of feelings you get when running... the good, the bad, and the ugly.

-Elation

Hitting those goals feels PHENOMENAL! There is nothing quite like the feeling after a great run! Did you hit your splits (something I have ALWAYS been concerned about)? GREAT! Did you go the farthest you've every gone? AWESOME! Did you defeat you secret, or not so secret, running frenemy in a race? HECK YES! Running can make a person feel on top of the world, for sure!! You can surprise yourself on so many levels with running. You can do what you thought you couldn't do just a few months before, and it makes you feel amazing! Runner's high is a real thing, y'all!!

-Defeat

Did you have a terrible run? Could you just not hold the pace you or your coach had set for you? Did you do worse than what you anticipated in a race? Are you injured? Just as running can make you feel great about yourself, it can also bring you down a notch, or two, quite frequently! Not hitting those goals you have set for yourself can be really upsetting, especially for those that have big races they are working towards. You feel like you've failed and wonder if you can even continue. I've been there, too many times to count!!

It's so important to remember as runners not to let each individual run define us. There are going to be days when running gives you a boost in confidence and there will be days when you wonder why you even started running in the first place. I think that's so much of the appeal of running. You strive for those good days and attempt to ignore the ones that make you feel less-than-stellar! Don't ever let a bad run, or even streak of bad runs, ruin your love for the sport!! There will be another great run in your future, I promise! Keep truckin'!!

I hope you all have an AWESOME weekend planned ahead! See ya tomorrow!!!

What time do your kids get up?

What do you do for rest days?

What is your favorite feeling running gives you?
