Friday Feels on Training

Happy Friday, y'all!!

WOW! The responses from yesterday's post suggest that CrossFit is a very popular topic- even when you're explaining why it doesn't work for you! It was my most popular blog post... but it could be due to the fact that it was posted early in the day, not after 10pm ;)

Anywho, let's talk about yesterday and how my training has shifted! Yesterday started of by taking Lynny to the sitter for her weekly visit with her friends. I met Paula and Billy right after I dropped her off to get a 6 miler in. We had a ridiculously easy goal for our pace, 12:14. It was HOT.

They purchased their marathon plans from me back in June and their goal is to run a marathon in 5 hours. After the first few weeks of training, they are thinking they can work towards a faster time. I'm thinking they're right, so I adjusted their plan for them to run a faster marathon! I'm running 8 miles with them tomorrow and I think we'll enjoy it more since we'll be able to run just a little faster ;)

I came home after our 6 miler and showered then TOOK A NAP! I should have done a TRILLION other things, but that bed was calling my name, y'all! I fell for it hook, line, and sinker! Not ashamed... Not. Ashamed.

I woke up, fixed some lunch, and got to work on fixing Paula and Billy's new plan as well as another client's plan. She had an injury that put her on the sidelines for a little bit, but she's ready to get back at it! I'm SO excited for her!

I also talked to a potential future client! She's wanting to become a law enforcement officer (so proud of her!) and wants to get in better shape! I really hope to get to help her do that!

After that, I went and picked Lynny up and we ran by Walmart. Her hair was pretty awesome, but she wouldn't let me get a good picture ;)

She got an art set. She was so excited! Of course, we played with it as soon as we got home!

We spent some time on the playset. It was a little wet- she didn't care!

Then Daddy came home and took us out to my favorite Mexican restaurant to eat! I would have taken a picture of the deliciousness, but it disappeared pretty quickly ;)

SO, the topic of the day: changing those training plans...

Things happen, y'all. LIFE happens. You get a new job, you grow your family, you get injured, you get tired of constantly training (ME, ME, ME!!), or you see that you can do better than you originally thought. Life happens and you have to change up your training plans. It. Is. OK. It's fine to take a step back when you find out you're pregnant (like my favorite blogger, Hungry Runner Girl!). It's equally ok to step UP your training (like Paula and Billy are!) when you see that you are killing your current plan. Running is a wonderful sport. It will be there when you're ready to return to it if you have something that hinders it. Don't let your step back from training upset you. You'll get back at it and be better than ever! TRUST ME! I quit running when I had Lynny and thought I'd NEVER get back to those paces. But I did! Not only did I get back to those paces, I GOT FASTER! It takes work and time... When you have the time to put in the work, running will be there just as ready! Enjoy where you're at in your life, don't let others who are doing better bring you down! You're exactly where you need to be!

And similarly, if you're the one who is doing better at the moment, be HUMBLE. Rubbing it in peoples' faces is not appropriate, or nice... You're being a jerk. Take some of that negative energy and channel it into something good, like helping out a fellow runner... or petting the animals at the local shelter... something, ANYTHING, nice ;)

I hope this helps some folks, especially those that have talked to me about these issues. You all are awesome!

I have a RIDICULOUSLY busy weekend ahead. NOT. EXCITED. But yeah, there may be blogs, but they'll be short, I would bet ;)

I hope you're looking forward to your weekend!

How is your training going?

Have you had to take a step back from training?

What are your weekend plans?
